Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will [a]bring judgment on themselves. Romans 3:1-2.
South Africa started the lock-down on 23 March due to Covid-19, now 115 days ago, believe it or not, a couple of days short of a third of 2020, fortunately with some relief during this period yet the numbers of infections and deaths rise steadily (See Romans 13:1-2).
LOTS# has not been totally dormant although we have surrendered to flattening the curve. During the first two weeks of Covid we assisted in moving 77 people to shelters in Benoni and Springs, supporting our people when the need arose with likes of bibles, reading material, extension cords, kettle, and shaver – also a birthday cake for Jacques’s 50th on 5 July. Today, there are only three left in Benoni, Springs having closed down for renovations and the people moved to Olifantsfontein and then Benoni. The Social Workers have done amazing work by getting people into rehabs and then reuniting some with their families. Others have returned to their families, initiated by the Social Workers, while a greater number have returned to the streets out of own will where the pull of addictions outweighs the desire for ‘normality’.
LOTS# has been Blessed with resources, the likes of vegetables from Bazil, meat from Kevin, Starches and the likes from Amcare and financial donations which have contributed to pots of soup or tasty stews or donated to Tannie Antoinette and/or Elize of Happy Hearts, on a weekly basis, where these Angels provide for the needy in times of financial and work crises. Relatively speaking, it is but a drop in the ocean but every bit helps. Thank you one and all for your support in prayer and resources.
We praise God for His Mercy and prevenient Grace.
