And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested. 1 Chronicles 4:10
It seems that the LOTS# Hope Centre in Alberton has grown into a place of hope for far more than just our original target group. Not only are we serving our Brothers and Sisters living on the streets, but we are also receiving referrals from a local school principal as well as “passers-by” from the general public. This inspired us to host the LOTS# Community Walk with the vision of ‘Knitting the Community Together.’ God, however, had even greater plans. Through this initiative, our relationships with SAPS, Social Development, Home Affairs, and Child Welfare were strengthened, while Bible Studies and Counselling Sessions at the LOTS# Hope Centre have doubled in attendance, reflecting a deeper hunger for the Truth. All praise and honour be to our Lord Jesus Christ!
The Children’s Ministry at Ligstad Church has also flourished, with new groups joining each month who lack facilities of their own. Three weeks ago, on the Monday following the LOTS# Community W.A.L.K, seven youngsters from Parklands came to the Hope Centre to see SANCA after being referred by Mr. Brown, the school principal. This encounter led to a meeting and, shortly after, a powerful testimony and talk by Ravi Naidoo (Destined to Conquer) that Thursday to the Grade 8 & 9’s thereafter Grade 10 & 11’s. Below are two testimonies that speak for themselves:
“My name is XXXXXX, you came to my school yesterday the 28 August, I did come upto you and shake your hand because I feel you have changed my life, yes it’s only been a day but the Lord says I’ll never let you out my palm, I am 16 years old and live with my grandmother for 13 years now, I was born in 2009 and in 2012 my father died, my mother then asked my father’s mother to look after me, yes the past 13 years I have had a roof over my head, clothes on my back and a education, but it’s been tough, I feel your speach spoke to me more than words could, your life story and living in tin town and the way you became the man you are, it’s so motivating I really appreciate what you do for us young people.”
Also:
” No it’s an honour and a privilege to have met you ,the things you sayd yesterday might not have changed everyone’s minds about the path they are walking but it changed mine, and your book is just amazing, keep it up don’t stop because people like me need to hear words that you speak. Thanks again for everything 🙏”
This week LOTS# and Ravi go to Kathlehong. As per our Community W.A.L.K. we appeal to the Community to get involved. “How?”, you may ask. It was referred to in the LOTS# Community W.A.L.K. brochure:
Witness God’s Love
As we walk, we bear witness to the transforming power of Jesus’s love, making His presence known through compassion and action.
Act with Compassion
We move with purpose — meeting needs, listening, offering presence, and creating genuine relationships with those who often feel unseen.
Listen and Learn
Every story matters. We honour the dignity of each person we meet by listening, learning their journey, and understanding their needs.
Knit the Community Together
Through love, prayer, and shared humanity, we help bridge the gap between the streets and the sanctuary, fostering unity among individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations.
